In a recent blog we showed you why you should consider staying at a bed and breakfast instead of a hotel. With reasons like lower rates, better amenities, and a homemade breakfast, B&Bs are the obvious better option. However, while B&Bs are great to stay at on vacation, they can also be used as a vacation spot.
For those who are not aware, ‘Staycations’ are essentially periods in which families decide to vacation at or close to home. With the price increase in vacation spots and the economy dwindling in previous years, staycations have actually become fairly popular. Bed and breakfasts are a genuinely good place to have a staycation for families looking to have a different kind of vacation. Not sure how? Take a look at this small list of reasons why.
Vacationing in your back yard:
Staying at a bed and breakfast that is local or closer to home is great. With different décor and awe-inspiring landscaping, most B&Bs can make you feel like you are in a completely different country, when really you’re in your backyard. If you are looking for something that will make you feel like you’re miles away, try a bed and breakfast that is in a remote or isolated setting. This way you can stay away for the weekend without being too far away from the kids or the homestead.
Avoid breaking the bank:
Staycationing at a B&B is excellent for those looking to save on cash. As we’ve stated before, bed and breakfasts are typically less expensive than your average hotel. While you might pay $5 for a bottle of water at a hotel, things like water and snacks are included in your b&b stay for free. Along with that, they offer amenity packages or cheaper activities for guests. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy more for less? If you are having a hard time believing this, check out this chart that breaks down the cost of hotels compared to b&bs.
Amenities make the world go ‘round:
Amenities and activities really do make the world go ’round. Since a lot of us go on vacation to have fun and enjoy ourselves, bed and breakfast amenities are ideal. Most amenities are are located on-site or have a short drive. This means avoiding hours of driving around looking for entertainment, because there is loads to do on-site. Yet another way to save money.
The last, but certainly not least, reason to take a bed and breakfast staycation, is the food. Bed and breakfasts give guests a taste of home with homemade meals. Sure, breakfast buffets and restaurant steak dinners are delicious, but they still lack something. Instead, eat from in-house professional and sometimes personal chefs. They are there to create meals specifically with you in mind, and they certainly want you to enjoy it. Having a chef cook for you will make you feel classy without the high cost!
Vacationing can become costly. This year instead of dropping a ton of money into expensive hotels and entertainment, consider staycationing at a bed and breakfast.
